Hi All! Gone are the days when we only had one choice of a traditional tiered fruitcake with white icing and maybe some flowers. Nowadays there are so many different fillings to choose from, not to mention the art that goes into decorating a wedding cake. Here are a few tips to consider before meeting with your cake designer.
1.Be honest about your budget: Every couple will have a different budget and to be honest most couples want to save, your baker can help you achieve the look you want by suggesting different methods, flavor or fillings for the cake. Please make sure you have a tasting first before you agree to anything.
2. Be Creative: A good cake designer will listen to your ideas and make sketches of cakes that you might like, so don’t be afraid to communicate your ideas to them.
3. Be Original: You don’t have to follow trends; you can design a cake that is unique. If you both love music find a way to incorporate a musical instrument on the cake.
4. Size: If you love elaborate and big cakes but can’t afford it, you can have a few fake tiers, most people think that fake cakes are tacky but I beg to differ, look at all these cakes that Iwona of Mk Cakes did for our photo shoot. I bet some of you actually thought they were real.
